Silver Care Guide

How to care for your Silverfish Jewellery

Silverfish jewellery is inspired by the bible, lovingly crafted in real silver at our workshop in Birmingham’s famous jewellery quarter. Since 2002 we have been committed to continuous improvement in design, raw materials and craftsmanship as well as in our service to you. If cared for correctly your silverfish jewellery can be worn and treasured for years to come or passed down as an heirloom to the next generation… This simple basic care guide will help you preserve and protect your jewellery investment.

Basic care

Have your jewellery professionally cleaned at least once a year depending on how often it is worn. We offer a jewellery cleaning and repair service at our workshop. Our craftsmen are experienced in all aspects of jewellery care.

Between professional cleanings, maintain you’re silver jewellery with non-abrasive jewellery cleaner, warm soapy water or our silver cleaning cloths which are impregnated with a special anti tarnish agent. A soft bristle brush can be used with warm soapy water to clean difficult to reach areas.

Pearls can be wiped with a soft damp cloth, do not soak pearls, ultrasonic cleaning is not safe for pearls.

Examine your jewellery regularly to ensure that settings and clasps are secure and do not expose you’re jewellery to household bleach, strong perfumes or hairspray.

Silver tarnishes when exposed to extremes of heat or cold, salty water or sea water, heavy sweating and some products containing sulphur. So always remove you’re jewellery during swimming and sports.

Cleaning clothRemove tarnish with our anti-tarnish silver cloths or non-abrasive silver polish. Silver loves to be worn and at skin temperature it is at its best. Wear just occasionally in the shower for that renewed ‘bling’ effect!

Storage is also important. At the time of purchase silver fish jewellery is packed in a protective box or pouch which is tarnish resistant. Between wearing we recommend that you’re jewellery is placed in its original packaging or similar.
