Dear Friends in Christ!

“Two is better than one and a three fold cord is not easily broken”

Valentine’s day is fast approaching, love and romance fill the air … According to the Catholic online encyclopaedia, at least three different Saint Valentines, all of them martyrs, are mentioned in the early martyrologies under date of 14 February.

The popular customs associated with Saint Valentine's Day undoubtedly had their origin in a conventional belief generally received in England and France during the Middle Ages, that on 14 February, i.e. half way through the second month of the year, the birds began to pair. Thus in Chaucer's Parliament of Foules we read:

“For this was sent on Seynt Valentyne's day
whan every foul cometh ther to choose his mate.”

Speaking of Love and St Valentines day, my assistant Marian, met Arran around this time last year and they are getting married in June. She has been busy making wedding plans and people have commented on how well and happy she is looking! She definitely has a ‘certain glow', she’s sparkling like a diamond! And not surprisingly as love generates warmth and happiness.

In the scripture above, Solomon sums up that human beings are made to be in relationships, be it friendship, or marriage. We are also designed to be in a relationship with God, hence the 'three fold cord'.

Our ‘U Me and Jesus’ collection is based on this verse. Two strands of silver wire are entwined with one gold stand , symbolising that Jesus is the central golden thread that binds us together. This and other inspirational designs can be viewed in our Friendship and Soul Mates Collection.

Its always a privilege to make wedding, engagement rings and love tokens, I start off with a sketch and work from that. As I work on a design I will often pray for the happy couple, that God will bless them and that Christ will be the centre of their love, that His love will fill their hearts and that their love will grow and become perfect in Christ and that He will always bind them together with cords of love.

In closing, human love has the power to warm the heart, but God’s love is deeper and stronger - it’s the love that holds other love’s together. It’s a love so pure, it changes you. It brings gentleness, patience, kindness, forgiveness etc. It’s a love that heals the broken hearted, it breaks the chains of addiction. It comforts the lonely and brings peace and freedom to the oppressed. It can be experienced by all who would enter a relationship with Christ Jesus.

I pray that your heart and relationships be filled with God’s love this Valentines!

Love and blessings in Jesus,
